Occupational Safety

The Occupational Safety Program at UMBC is designed to provide resources and guidance for UMBC employees at all levels to be able to effectively recognize and control hazards in their workplaces and areas of responsibility. The goal of Occupational Safety is to promote a working environment that prevents injury and illness to employees through the effective management of workplace hazards.

ESH maintains written programs, procedures, training and inspection materials, and other resources on a variety of occupational safety topics, including:

  • Respiratory Protection
  • Lockout Tagout (Control of Hazardous Energy)

Safety Starts with You

Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Employees and leaders at all levels should understand and exercise their roles in making UMBC a safe place to work. A safe and healthy workplace contributes to a thriving learning and research environment for the community in which we serve.
